Jhagaru Ram was our gardener who enjoyed smoking the chillum (smoking pipe) early in the morning to ward off the morning chill. He became an ideal subject for my oil painting as he would gladly agree for the live painting sessions. Painted in early 80's.
As an Army officer served in the indian army for almost 25 years. Took premature retirement to pursue other pleasures in life like painting, teaching and travelling.Totally a self taught artist, I have extensively painted landscapes and portraits in oil, acrylics and charcoal.I also do caricatures.

Love it! I had seen some of your work the last time I visited India! Are any available for sale?
Again, the weather beaten face has come out brilliantly and I like the colours of the blanket too.
Amazing painting! This is really a masterpiece. Love how you've rendered the textures of his face. Have you seriously considered exhibiting?
